Santa Ana– Ann Avery Andres has been selected as the Foreperson for the 2007/2008 Grand Jury which will begin July 2, 2007 announced Judge David T. McEachen, Chair of the Grand Jury Recruitment and Selection Committee.
“Ms Andres has been a resident of Santa Ana for 36 years and her dedication to the community is evident by her active participation in many professional and civic organizations,” said Judge McEachen. He added, “Her leadership and consensus building skills are exceptional. She has served as president of the Orange County Women Lawyers, Orange County Bar Foundation, and Chair of the Civic Center Commission.”
Before becoming a partner in a private law practice, Andres was the Legal Education Program Director for Youth at the Orange County Department of Education, an Adjunct Professor at a private law school, and was a high school teacher in Long Beach, California. She is interested in cultural arts, and is a member of the Docent Guild of Bowers Museum, and is the owner of an art gallery.
Ms. Andres received her B.A. from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1962. She received her J.D. from Western State University College of Law in 1975
The incoming 19 Grand Jury Members and first three alternates will participate in a six-day orientation and training program conducted by members of the present Grand Jury and advisors from the offices of the District Attorney and County Counsel. The 2007/2008 Grand Jury will be in impaneled at a proceeding in Department C1 of the Superior Court in Orange County at the Central Justice Center in Santa Ana, on July 2 at 10:00 a.m.
