Santa Ana- Vickie Lynn Hix was sworn in today as the newest commissioner of the Court, announced Chief Executive Officer Alan Slater. She was elected to the position by the judges of the Superior Court in Orange County.
Vickie Hix has extensive experience as a criminal prosecutor. For 21 years, she was a Deputy District Attorney in the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, with a homicide, narcotics, gang, and juvenile caseload. As Senior Deputy District Attorney she supervised the office’s operation at the North Justice Center in Fullerton and the Juvenile Court branch. Since 2002, she was a senior deputy departmental counsel at the Orange County Department of Child Support Services, and her cases primarily involved enforcement of child support orders.
Hix was awarded a law degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, and a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Southern California.
Commissioners serve as subordinate judicial officers with the Superior Court. The types of cases and/or hearings they may be assigned include, small claims, family, juvenile, traffic, and landlord/tenant matters. The annual salary of a Commissioner is $134,471.
