David Baker is Selected Foreperson of the 2013-2014 O.C. Grand Jury

2013-2014 Orange County Grand Jury Selected

Santa Ana – The 19 members and 11 alternates of the 2013-2014 Orange County Grand Jury were selected today from a drawing held at 12:00 p.m. in Department C1 of the Central Justice Center. Assistant Presiding Judge Glenda Sanders presided over the ceremony with the names randomly drawn by the Court’s Chief Executive Officer/Jury Commissioner, Alan Carlson.
The Court Celebrates Juror Appreciation Week May 13–17

Santa Ana — The Superior Court of Orange County will celebrate Juror Appreciation Week, May 13–17, to recognize the service and participation of jurors from our local community. Recognition for jurors during the second week in May was established by a special resolution passed by the California Legislature in 1998 acknowledging the important contributions of citizens who devote their time to make the cherished right of trial by a jury of fellow citizens a reality.
New Family Law Fillable Forms Can Be Submitted Electronically

The Superior Court of California in Orange County has added several new “SmartForms” for Family Law cases. This new set of forms includes all the forms needed to start or respond to a Family Law case. The fillable forms are simple to use, have been made “smart” to guide the user as they are filling out the form, and can be filed with the Court electronically without any additional fees. Users will not need to drive to Court to file, saving time and money.

Santa Ana, CA – The Honorable Glenda Sanders, Assistant Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of Orange County and Chair of Grand Jury Recruitment/Selection Committee, urges qualified Orange County residents to apply for Grand Jury service. Judge Sanders said, “We are far behind the number of applications we normally receive by this time of the year.” She continued, “Because of the shortage of applicants, the Court has extended the application deadline to January 25, 2013 for the July 1, 2013-June 30, 2014 term.”

Santa Ana, CA – It has come to the attention of the Superior Court of California, County of Orange (the Court), that this Court and its address have been included in a fraudulent notice being distributed to unsuspecting Orange County residents/homeowners. If you have received a notice such as the following one, you may want to report it to your local law enforcement agency. The Court is not involved in distributing, filing, or hearing any cases associated with this.
Superior Court Announces a Pilot Project for Electronic Filing and Service of Documents for Civil Cases

Santa Ana – On September 14, 2012, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. signed into law Assembly Bill 2073 which authorizes Orange County Superior Court to establish a pilot project that will require documents filed in all limited, unlimited, and complex civil actions on or after January 1, 2013, to be filed electronically. This pilot project will commence on January 1, 2013.
Superior Court of Orange County Installs Video Relay Service for Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Court Visitors

Santa Ana, CA – The Superior Court of Orange County announces the installation of its first-ever Video Relay Service (VRS) kiosk at the Central Justice Center, 700 Civic Center Drive West, Santa Ana. VRS is a free videophone relay service that provides technology for deaf and hard-of-hearing persons to communicate with hearing persons in real time using American Sign Language interpreters. The goal of VRS is to provide telecommunications access for deaf, hard-of-hearing, and speech-disabled individuals in a manner functionally equivalent to that provided to traditional voice telephone users.

Santa Ana – Judges of the Orange County Superior Court unanimously elected Hon. Glenda Sanders as Assistant Presiding Judge at an election held today, August 27, 2012, announced Presiding Judge Thomas J. Borris. A special election was called to fill the position previously held by Judge David A. Thompson who was appointed to the California Court of Appeal, Fourth District, Division Three, by Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. Judge Sanders’ term as Assistant Presiding Judge is from August 28 to December 31, 2012.
